Philip Cox was born 15 Nov. 1763 and died 30 Jan. 1841 in Augusta Co., Virginia. He married Ann Mary Wiseman in 1784 in the German Reform Church in Germantown, Penn. . Ann Mary was a daughter of Peter Wiseman(Weissman) and Elizabeth Hemm. Ann was born 20 Apr. 1762, probably in Germantown, Philadelphia Co., Penn. She died 4 Mar. 1839 in Augusta Co., Va.. Philip was a farmer and owned over 550 acres in Rockbridge and Augusta Counties. Part of his property, over 118 acres, adjoined the Old Providence Presbyterian Meeting House in Spotswood, Augusta Co. Sixty acres were on Headwaters of Hays Creek, on the North River, now Maury River, Rockbridge Co. Philip Cox's estate was considerably valuable, the executors of his will were required to post $46,000.00 in bonds, proved by WB 23, page 410 dtd. 22 Feb. 1841 and page 412, dtd 27 Sept. 1841. Philip had a brother, George, and 2 sisters, Barbara and Peggy. Philip was shot while serving in the Revolutionary War. He had 5 grandsons who served in the Civil War, John, Philip and Henry Bowers, Jacob and Philip Lotts. John and Philip Bowers were killed in action. Philip died Saturday, 30 Jan. 1841 and was buried in the New Providence Presbyterian Church Cemetery next to his wife. Both have government markers.

Jacob Cox was born 14 May 1791 in Augusta Co., Va. He married on Thursday, 13 Mar 1813 in
New Providence Church, in Rockbridge Co., Va to Anna Eve Stoner, a daughter of Henry
Stoner (Stiener) and Mary Eve Horn. Anna was born 10 Oct. 1789 and died 15 July 1873.
Jacob died on Tuesday, Oct 30, 1877 and was buried next to his wife in the Old Providence
Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Augusta Co., Va. Jacob was a farmer and owned over 500
acres in Augusta and Rockbridge Counties. Jacob's home was moved from its original site at
the base of a hill to the top of the hill, where it is in use today. A photograph of the
house is on file in the library at Washington and Lee Univ., in Lexington, Virginia. He
served in the 1812 War with Abraham Lang's Virginia Militia. He receive a pension, claim
reference: SA-8789. He also receive bounty land for his service. Jacob's grandson Jacob
Cox, (son of George H. Cox who was a brother to our David ), served with the 52nd Virginia
Infantry during the Civil War. He was wounded in action July 3rd 1863 at Gettysburg, Penn.
And was taken prisoner on May the 30th 1864.

David Cox was born 1 Apr 1827 in Virginia. He married 1 June 1854, in Virginia, to Sarah
Jane Beard. She was born 1833 in Virginia. At this time I believe her father to be
James Beard but this has not been confirmed. They moved to New Goshen, Indiana, which is
in Vigo Co. after their marriage. They had 15 children; all born in Vigo Co. David died 27
Apr 1900 and is buried at the Rose Hill Cem. in Vigo Co. Sarah died shortly after giving
birth to their last child, 27 Mar 1877. She was buried with the baby at the Rose Hill Cem.
